Fabric Garden’s Product Concept
──“Trees are planted on the ground, plants are planted on fabric.”
Elementary students
used to put green beans on some cotton to experience the germination process.
Put some green beans on a layer of moist cotton in a shallow glassware and they
would germinate. The initial idea of Fabric Garden comes from this green bean
experiment. We developed an innovative 3D fabric (Fabric Garden) with the same
material (polyethylene terephthalate) used to produce PET bottles, and it can
replace the soil. The material of the Fabric Garden, PET, prevents the product from
decaying. In the production process, we can also recycle PET bottles which promotes
the concept of environmental protection and salvage.
Compared to
traditional soil used for potted plants, Fabric Garden is much lighter and
flexible. The 3D fabric allow the fabric to maintain its light, robust feature.
With different production methods, such as cutting or sewing, people can create
Fabric Gardens of any size or form. You can also have double-face planting
which creates a visual effect which cannot be achieved using traditional potted
plants. Therefore, with Fabric Garden, anyone can have landscape design or
installation. Small sizes are appropriate for an ordinary family’s balcony or indoor
decoration. Since the material is fairly light, it’s also appropriate
for creating a green wall or green roof.
